There are changes in the air … horses leaving for new homes, horses being ridden and all of us waiting for a foal
Annabel has promised to produce her foal by Castle Crest on June 1st, but no sign of that yet.
Two of our three year olds are starting to work (am looking for an alternative to the awful term ‘being broken’) Loki – Annabel’s second foal whose sire is Crannagh Hero and Lady who is Lismoses Lady’s filly who is by Mountain Diamond are both up the hill with Ollie Hutchinson and doing well.
Here is Loki during his first couple of weeks
Penny, who is now seven, and who was previously backed is being ridden by Lynn at Barbara Stallard’s stables on the Bennetsbridge Road. Here she is, looking good. I think she is wondering why she is being made to work after four years of leisurely breeding…. I am happy with her progress.
A number of our horses are in new homes now.
Lurgy, our miniature shetland, has moved around the ring road and now lives with Barbara Stallard and her menagerie. Barbara runs the Danville Livery and Boarding Kennels on the Bennetsbridge road just beyond the Kilkenny ring road. We know Lurgy will be very happy there.
Our Cob mare Chessie is also there, getting some much needed exercise!
Two of your Cloneen Clover geldings are spending some time with Willem and Anneke Savelkouls in Ardattin. Willem and Anneke are top class breeders of Irish Draughts and we got our very own Annabell from them. They are also the owners of Castle Crest, the sire of Annabell’s foal to be!
Molly, our coloured Cob filly moved up to Kildare where she is is now being ridden, she has gone to a wonderful home.
Liath, our Clydesdale filly from last year, has also found a lovely new home and she headed up there a couple of weeks ago. We were all very sad to see her go (as we are with all of them!) but she will be much loved by Pat and (another) Barbara and their children.
